Organic Kilimanjaro Medium Blend

New Harvest Coffee Roasters

About This Coffee

This Certified USDA Organic blend features coffee from Honduras. Current components include Organic COMSA Royal Reserva Natural and Organic Honduras Marcala COMSA. The coffee is sourced from COMSA (Café Organico Marcala, S.A.), a cooperative formed in 2000 by sixty-two Honduran farmers who transformed their farms from conventional to organic production. In 2001, COMSA earned organic certification from Bio Latina, enabling better international market access and improved selling prices. The cooperative funds local community projects including teacher salaries and school supplies. This is a medium roast blend with rotating ingredients throughout the year as fresh crops become available.

New Harvest Coffee Roasters

Rik Kleinfeldt and Paula Anderson established New Harvest Coffee Roasters in Providence, Rhode Island in 2000, setting the foundation for a roastery defined by ethical sourcing and operational excellence. Their Loring Peregrine 70 kilogram roaster became the centerpiece of an operation that introduced a source direct program in 2007, transforming how they connect with coffee producers. Staff members travel yearly to coffee farms in Central and South America, building relationships and ensuring payment of at least 20 percent above Fair Trade minimum prices. Operating as a Certified Organic Handler using 100 percent renewable electricity, and having created Rhode Islands first barista training program in 2008, New Harvest has woven sustainability and education into every aspect of their business.
