Red Hook Espresso is a year-round house espresso blend from Gotham Coffee Roasters in Brooklyn. This blend combines coffee from Brazil and Colombia, specifically from Daterra Villa and Cafe La Victoria producers. The beans are washed processed and consist of mixed varietals from the Bourbon and Typica groups, grown at elevations of 4500 and 7500 feet. The blend features a rich, full-bodied Brazilian base complemented by bright and complex Colombian coffee, delivering flavor notes of cocoa, dates, and citrus. This classic espresso profile works well alone or in milk-based cafe drinks and adapts to a wide range of brew ratios.
Gotham Coffee Roasters was founded in Brooklyn in 2013 by Chris Calkins, a coffee professional whose career traces back to a mentorship with Alfred Peet, the Dutch American roaster widely regarded as the father of the specialty coffee movement. Calkins went on to cofound Spinelli Coffee in San Francisco, work with La Marzocco, and build an award winning wine label before returning to coffee with Gotham. The roastery sources through direct relationships with farmers, bringing Calkins' decades of sensory expertise to every roast. Gotham is a roaster with an unusually deep lineage, connecting today's specialty coffee directly to the origins of the craft in the United States.
