Empower Coffee Roasters

About This Coffee

This Nicaraguan coffee is from Finca Los Positos, owned by Maria Estanislada Martinez. Located near Palo Blanco in the Jinotega department of northern Nicaragua, the 21.35-hectare farm sits at 1,245 meters altitude in a region known for lush landscapes and mountainous terrain. The coffee is shade-grown and hand-picked, featuring Bourbon, Catimor, Caturra, Typica, and Parainema varieties. It undergoes washed processing with wet milling and fermentation at the farm, then sun-dried on African beds. Medium roast with nutty, chocolate tasting notes, mild acidity, and balanced body.

Empower Coffee Roasters

Zach and Denise Gamza opened Empower Coffee Roasters in April 2020 in Mesa, Arizona, building a 700 square foot facility that houses the roastery, a small kitchen, and front of house seating. Roasting runs on a 5 pound machine made by Arizona based Buckeye Coffee Roasters, with green coffee sourced through Cafe Femenino and Cafe Imports. Five percent of all sales go to nonprofits supporting women and girls through education and career development, including a partnership with the Live and Learn organization in Arizona. The woman owned operation sources specifically from women run coffee farms around the world.
