Brooklyn Roasting Company

Brooklyn Roasting Company was founded in 2009 by Jim Munson, who previously served as VP and partner at Brooklyn Brewery in the 1990s before spending seven years as VP of Dallis Bros. Coffee. The production headquarters sits inside Building 123 at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, a structure originally built in 1899 as an industrial powerplant with 60 foot ceilings and two foot thick brick walls, and it was the first LEED certified building in the Navy Yard. Roasting takes place on fuel efficient Loring Peregrine and Kestrel machines, with the output supplying wholesale accounts including Russ and Daughters, Fresh Direct, and Columbia University coffee bars. The company expanded internationally with its first Japanese location in Kitahama, Osaka in 2012, followed by a Namba flagship in 2016 and additional shops in Tokyo.
