About This Coffee

This coffee is a single-origin offering from the Mutovu Coffee Washing Station in Rwanda's Nyamasheke District. Grown at altitudes between 1,750 and 1,950 meters in rich volcanic soil, this Bourbon variety coffee is processed using the natural method. It features a light roast profile with a syrupy body and fruity flavor notes, specifically cherry jam and orange blossom.

Bird and Bear Coffee

Bird and Bear Coffee was founded in 2020 by Dan Streetman and his wife Ella in San Francisco's Cole Valley, named after the nicknames of their twin daughters. Dan brings nearly 20 years of specialty coffee experience from stints at Cuvee Coffee in Austin, Irving Farm in New York, and Sightglass, and holds credentials through both the SCA and CQI. The roastery produces around 300 pounds per week at Pulley Collective in Oakland, a private label co op facility, with each coffee roasted fresh when ordered using parameters tailored to unlock its specific flavour potential. Dan has developed direct relationships with growers through origin trips, prioritising environmental wellbeing, equitable working conditions, and sustainable farming practices.
