This coffee is produced by Daye Bensa, a coffee grower and exporter in Ethiopia. The coffee comes from the Shantawene Village in the Gedeo Zone, with cherries also sourced from out-growers in the nearby Karamo and Bombe villages. The farm sits at 1,900-2,217 meters altitude, while the out-grower farms are located higher up the mountain between 2,000 and 2,400 meters. This natural processed coffee offers rich sweetness, a juicy body, and flavor notes of tropical fruits, citrus, and floral characteristics.
Quarter Horse Coffee opened its first café in Oxford in 2012 before moving permanently to Birmingham in 2015, becoming the city's first specialty coffee roasters. The roastery sits in the Jewellery Quarter on Kenyon Street, where the entire roasting process is visible from the café floor. In 2023 they opened a dedicated site for production and training. Coffees are organised into three categories: Stable for balanced profiles, Venture for floral and citrus forward lots, and Unique for experimental processes. All retail bags are fully home compostable and biodegradable.
