About This Coffee

This single origin coffee is from Guatemala, specifically the Amatitlan region, produced by Christian Starry at El Xalum farm. The coffee is Red Bourbon variety, naturally processed and dried on large terraces at the washing station overlooking Lake Amatitlan. Christian Starry is the fourth generation of his Czech family to produce coffee in Guatemala, with a special focus on processing methods established at their 2013 washing station. The natural processing results in a spicy cup with cinnamon notes, complemented by berry and caramel flavors. Light roasted, this 100% Arabica coffee is specifically designed for filter brewing methods.

Black & Blaze was founded in 2010 by Claude Stahel, who decided to dedicate his life to coffee while on holiday. Based in Ebmatingen near Zurich, the micro roastery applies a gentle drum roasting process to carefully sourced beans from direct trade partners and Rainforest Alliance certified origins. The range includes both blends and single origins from producers in Honduras, Brazil, India, Colombia, and Mexico. Black & Blaze favors coffees with body, chocolate notes, and low acidity, roasted to medium profiles that suit espresso and fully automatic machines alike.
