Stella is a workhorse espresso blend served daily in Boxcar Coffee Roasters cafes. The blend consists of sweet, clean, balanced coffees with chocolate and caramel flavors. Current composition includes 66.66% El Salvador Divisadero from Apeneca at 1500m (Bourbon, Pacas, Cuzcalteco varieties, washed process) produced by Mauricio Salaverria, and 33.3% Colombia Tatacoa from Huila at 1650-2000m (Pink Bourbon, Caturra, Colombia varieties, washed process) from 60 small farms. The specific coffees change seasonally while maintaining a consistent flavor profile through careful selection and long-term producer relationships. Creates a deep, complex espresso balancing juicy citrus acidity with caramel and dark chocolate.
Boxcar Coffee Roasters was founded in 2010 by husband and wife team Vajra and Cara Rich with the goal of building a world class roasting company in their hometown of Boulder, Colorado. The team of 50 roasts on modified vintage Probat drum roasters fitted with highly customised systems and state of the art software for precision control. Boxcar purchases coffee at prices three to four times above Fair Trade levels through direct relationships with growers, and organic beans make up 30 to 45 percent of their yearly purchasing. The business runs two retail café locations with integrated bakeries in Boulder alongside a full service wholesale programme serving accounts nationwide.
