About This Coffee

Sumatra Kerinci Gunung Tujuh is a specialty-grade, wet-hulled coffee from Indonesia's mountainous Sumatra region. The wet-hulling process involves partially drying and hulling the coffee seed while damp, then drying slowly on patios. This processing creates a heavy-bodied, sweet coffee with muted acidity. Flavor notes include chocolate, brown sugar, caramel, and earthy notes, with occasional fruit notes and a lingering sweet finish.

Lighthouse Roasters

Lighthouse Roasters has been roasting coffee in Seattle's Fremont neighborhood since 1993, operating from the same 120 year old Craftsman building where it started. The centerpiece of the operation is a vintage 1952 Gothot cast iron drum roaster, a machine the team has adapted over three decades to produce a depth of character they believe modern automated equipment cannot replicate. The 15 person team brings over 250 years of combined roasting and barista experience, with many staff members having worked at Lighthouse for 10, 15, or more than 25 years. Sourcing priorities lean toward clean, sweet, well structured coffees from producers and cooperatives who share the same commitment to craft. The roastery has remained independent and intentionally small, preferring to let the vintage roaster and the consistency of its people define the quality.
