This Sumatra Sunrise is a coffee from the Aceh region of Sumatra, Indonesia, grown at an altitude of 1,300 to 1,600 meters. Produced at the Asman Gayo Ill farm, this coffee is a blend of Ateng, Bor bor, Catimor, and Timor varieties. It is processed using the washed method. The flavor profile features notes of chocolate, candied oranges, honey, and malt.
Corde Coffee Roasters was founded in Geneva in 2020 by Carlina Rinaldi Johnson, who transitioned from a 14 year career in marketing and brand strategy to specialty coffee. The name draws from the Spanish word for rope, reflecting the idea of coffee as a thread connecting farmer, roaster, and drinker. Carlina roasts in small batches from the roastery's own laboratory space, working with fair trade, traceable beans from around the world. Sustainability runs through the operation, from sourcing practices to exclusively reusable or sustainable packaging. Corde also functions as a community space, hosting tastings, barista classes, and workshops alongside their two Geneva boutiques.
