Tabi

About This Coffee

This coffee is the Tabi variety, developed by Cenicafe (Colombia's coffee research institute) after 25 years of research. Tabi is a hybrid of Timor, Bourbon, and Typica varieties. It produces large beans from tall plants that are particularly resistant to the fungus disease 'La Roya.' This coffee offers pronounced cacao notes with hints of hazelnuts, characteristic of its Bourbon lineage.

The Colombian Coffee Company

The Colombian Coffee Company is a London based social enterprise founded in 2016 by Eduardo Florez and Gabriela Oakley. Eduardo grew up in Colombia experiencing poverty and conflict firsthand, and together with Gabriela, who had lived and worked in the country, they set out to build direct relationships with small farms affected by decades of civil war. They work exclusively with single origin Colombian beans that score above 85 on the specialty grading scale, roasting light to showcase fruity aromas and complex flavours. They pay above market prices and go beyond Fairtrade standards, reinvesting profits into local social projects and community development initiatives in Colombia. The company highlights individual varieties such as Caturra, Borbon, Tabi, and Gesha rather than treating Colombian coffee as a single category. Their coffee can be found at Borough Market and other London locations.
