This natural processed coffee is produced by over 2000 farmers working under Agri Evolve in the Rwenzori Mountains. The lot is made up of cherries from farmers in Kituei, a small trading center near the Kasese district. Named after the Bakonzo Tribe who live throughout the Rwenzoris, the coffee represents a dream fulfilled by washing station manager Chris to have Bakonzo coffee enjoyed in the UK. Cherries are harvested during main and fly harvests, sorted and floated at Nyabirongo washing station, then dried on raised beds for 3-4 weeks before being hulled, graded, and bagged.
Dear Green Coffee Roasters was founded in 2011 in Glasgow, Scotland, by Lisa Lawson after a formative period working at Toby's Estate in Australia. The company is named after Glasgow's historic Gaelic nickname, "the dear green place," and sources exclusively specialty grade coffee through trusted importers and direct producer relationships, with Lawson personally visiting farms to verify ethical practices. Dear Green employs in house Q Graders to maintain strict quality control, only releasing coffees that meet its sensory standards. The roastery holds Certified B Corp status and prioritizes traceability, organic certification where possible, and sourcing from women producers.
