About This Coffee

This nano lot from Francisca and Oscar Cubillo features a Rume Sudan Ethiopian landrace cultivar processed with the Yellow Diamond method. The process removes 75% of mucilage, leaving 25% for delicate honey notes, with extended drying using 50% raised bed and 50% patio drying. The coffee exhibits floral notes of lemon and orange blossom, sweet citrus with lemon, lime, and tangerine, plus stone fruit character with apricot undertones.

Torque Coffee

Nanelle and Andy Newbom founded Torque Coffee in San Diego in 2022, bringing roughly 25 years of combined experience in roasting, green coffee sales, and specialty coffee organizations, including co founding the Barista Guild of America. Nanelle handles 100 percent of the roasting on a Diedrich IR5, and no coffee leaves the roastery more than 48 hours after it was roasted. Torque operates a Proportional Pricing model in which producers receive a fixed percentage of the retail price: 20 percent on single bag purchases and 35 percent on wholesale. All paper products are recycled, FSC certified, and home compostable, wholesale deliveries use reusable canisters, and shipping mailers are made from limestone quarry waste. The roastery has earned multiple Golden Bean Awards.
