Street Bean Coffee Roasters was founded in 2009 in Seattle as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit connected to New Horizons, an organization that has supported young people experiencing housing instability for nearly 50 years. The core of the operation is a four month apprenticeship program that provides job training in coffee for street involved young adults, covering everything from shop operations and customer service to soft employment skills and job coaching. All coffees meet or exceed Fair Trade and Organic certification standards, and the sourcing supports smaller farms pursuing those certifications. Street Bean is a roastery where the mission and the coffee reinforce each other: quality product, real opportunity.
