Tony's Coffee
United States
Tony Campbell founded Tony's Coffee in 1971 in Bellingham, Washington's historic Fairhaven district, roasting on an old nut roaster and selling coffee alongside spices and staples. The Elliott family acquired the business in the mid 1980s, and CEO Todd Elliott has led the company since 2000. Tony's became one of the first U.S. roasters to source organic, fair trade, shade grown coffee from farmer owned cooperatives in 2002, and installed a Loring roaster in 2019 to reduce its carbon footprint by over 40 percent. The company achieved 100 percent carbon neutral status for roastery operations and delivery in 2020, with a goal of becoming historically carbon neutral by 2030, offsetting all emissions back to 1971. Roast Magazine named Tony's its 2021 Macro Roaster of the Year. The roastery now produces roughly 1.1 million pounds of coffee annually.
