The name comes from the Middle Dutch word for bear, referencing a medieval tale about a bear trapped in a honey-filled log. The blend delivers a dark and full-bodied flavor profile with robust and earthy qualities, featuring notes of molasses, earthiness, and robust character.
Alvarium Roasting launched in January 2022 as a sister venture of Alvarium Beer Company in New Britain, Connecticut. The business is owned by Kate Bugnacki, Michael Larson, and Brian Bugnacki, with Jacob Failla directing roasting operations. All coffee is roasted to order weekly and sourced ethically from multiple countries, with the blends carrying bee and nature themed names that reflect the parent brand's identity.
