This single-origin coffee is from Costa Rica, specifically the Central Valley region at 1300 meters altitude. Produced by Alberto and Diego Guardia at Hacienda Sonora, the coffee is processed using the natural method. It is roasted to a medium-light level and features flavor notes of black currant jam, vanilla, and blueberry.
Achilles Coffee Roasters was founded in 2015 by Chad Bell in San Diego, California, named after his son. What started as a modest outdoor coffee cart in the Gaslamp Quarter grew within a year into a leased space in Cortez Hill, and the business now operates five café locations across San Diego County. All coffee is roasted in small batches locally, using beans that carry Organic, Fair Trade, and Rainforest Alliance certifications alongside direct trade relationships where possible. The roastery maintains 12 rotating single origin selections sourced from around the globe, with an emphasis on precision brewing methods including weighed espresso shots.
