This coffee is from Costa Rica, specifically from Hacienda Sonora in the Central Valley region. It is grown at 1300 meters above sea level and processed using the natural method. The coffee is roasted to a light level and features tasting notes of grape jam, cranberry, and fudge.
Achilles Coffee Roasters was founded in 2015 by Chad Bell in San Diego, California, named after his son. What started as a modest outdoor coffee cart in the Gaslamp Quarter grew within a year into a leased space in Cortez Hill, and the business now operates five café locations across San Diego County. All coffee is roasted in small batches locally, using beans that carry Organic, Fair Trade, and Rainforest Alliance certifications alongside direct trade relationships where possible. The roastery maintains 12 rotating single origin selections sourced from around the globe, with an emphasis on precision brewing methods including weighed espresso shots.
