Los Girasoles comes from the award-winning Calderon family working in the Dota Valley in Tarrazú, Costa Rica for three generations. The farm is located in Copey de Dota at 1850 to 2000 meters altitude. This coffee features the Catuai variety and is processed using the white honey method at the Los Angeles micromill. The white honey process uses a mechanical demucilager to release a specific amount of mucilage before drying, creating a sticky layer on the parchment. The coffee is roasted for espresso with tasting notes of plum, Belgian chocolate, and candied orange. It features a balanced profile with layered structure, sweet and rich characteristics.
Founded in 2009 by Kaelin McCowan in a back alley in Dundas, Ontario, Detour Coffee Roasters was born from a passion for the craft. They started with a journey across the continent to pick up their first roaster and have since grown into a beloved brand known for their fun, approachable, and high-quality "friendly coffee".
