About This Coffee

This East African decaf blend combines coffees from Mutovu and Karambi stations in Nyamasheke, Rwanda, with a small amount of dry process coffee from Gakenke site in Kayanza, Burundi. The coffee was decaffeinated using the Swiss Water Process, which uses only water to remove 99.9% of the caffeine content. The blend features balanced sweetness, subtle top notes, and moderate bittersweet tones. Flavor notes include brown sugar, lightly tart fruits, dark chocolate, and cinnamon-laced cocoa. Light roasts bring notes of vanilla wafer cookies and honey, while more developed roasts enhance dark chocolate and cinnamon-laced hot cocoa characteristics.

Lily & Willy's Coffee Co. is a family run specialty roaster founded in late 2022 in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, named after the founders' children. The company roasts fresh for every order rather than building up inventory, sourcing premium single origin beans from Kenya, Colombia, Costa Rica, Brazil, Peru, Ethiopia, Guatemala, India, and El Salvador. The operation is deliberately small scale, with recent expansion into a local retail shelf at Shores Meat Shoppe marking a first step beyond direct to consumer online sales. The founders built the business with a long term vision of eventually opening their own café.
