A washed Geisha variety from Pitalito, Huila, Colombia, grown at 1,600 meters elevation on Finca Lord Voldemort. The coffee trees are co-planted with lemongrass, creating a unique aromatic influence. The processing includes selective harvesting, floating, 24-hour oxidation, pulping, 18-hour oxidation, and sealed fermentation for up to 24 hours, followed by two rinses and 10-day drying. The coffee exhibits a bright, floral cup with peach soda, mango, spearmint, and lavender notes.
Founded in 2020 at the onset of the COVID 19 pandemic, Moonwake Coffee Roasters emerged from the passion of two former tech engineers, Ming Wood from Tesla and Mabel Yeung from Meta. What began as Ming's personal coffee project within Tesla's internal coffee club evolved into a full roastery operation after both founders chose to leave their tech careers to pursue coffee full time between 2023 and 2024. Moonwake represents a growing movement of technologists who discovered that coffee roasting offers greater fulfillment than their previous careers, channeling engineering precision into specialty coffee.
