This coffee comes from the Dimtu outgrower network in Oromia, Guji Zone, Ethiopia, where 766 smallholder farmers grow coffee at altitudes ranging from 1808 to 2128 meters above sea level. The coffee is produced at Dimtu Coffee Plantation, Tero Farm, a 151-hectare semi-forest farm. The cherries are hand-picked at peak ripeness and processed using the natural method at the Tero dry mill. They are dried on raised beds, turned hourly during the day for even drying, and hand-sorted while still red to remove overripe or defective cherries. The coffee features Ethiopian Heirloom varieties, including the disease-resistant cultivars 74110 and 74112 developed by the Jimma Agricultural Research Center in 1974. The cup profile is noticeably sweet with ripe blood orange, grilled orange zest, and refined notes of Earl Grey tea infused with bergamot. It offers a honey-like viscosity and mouthfeel reminiscent of milk chocolate.
