El Burro Geisha Honey

El Burro Geisha Honey

Rose Coffee Roasters

About This Coffee

This Geisha coffee is from El Burro farm in Boquete, Panama, grown at 1600 meters altitude under a canopy of native shade trees. Produced by Wilford using honey processing, the cherries are hand-picked at peak ripeness, depulped, and dried slowly on raised beds with the mucilage intact. The processing preserves clarity while allowing fruit-forward sweetness to deepen. The cup offers a lush mouthfeel with juicy citrus and stonefruit notes, wrapped in delicate floral characteristics. Clear sweetness supports the profile from hot to cold with higher intensity compared to washed versions.

Rose Coffee Roasters

Rose Coffee Roasters was founded in 2022 in Zurich by Matt Winton, the 2021 World Brewers Cup Champion, together with Frederic Brunner. Matt's background spans aircraft engineering in Australia and years of competition at the highest level of specialty coffee. The team, which includes Sierra Yeo (2022 UK Brewers Cup Champion), roasts exclusively on Stronghold electric roasters powered by 100% renewable electricity. Every batch is roasted to order, with a deliberate focus on brightness, sweetness, and flavor. Rose sources top end specialty lots through direct relationships with farmers in Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Ethiopia, China, and Indonesia. The name represents a duality Matt finds in great coffee: something simple and familiar on the surface, yet layered and complex underneath. It is a small, independent roastery with no shortcuts and no cheap blends.
