This decaffeinated coffee is from Tolima, Colombia, specifically from Finca El Vergel, one of the oldest single estates in the region. It is produced by second generation producers Elias and Shady Bayter with their mother Martha. The coffee is washed processed and decaffeinated using the sugarcane process. Medium roasted with flavor notes of fudge, toffee, walnut, and red apples.
Black Acres was established in 2018 by Travis Bell in Baltimore's Station North district. The Black owned roastery specialises in single origin and blended coffees, roasting all beans in house in small batches and sourcing ethically from South America and Africa with an emphasis on supply chain transparency. The business is part of Ignite Capital's social entrepreneur network and provides training programmes for employees covering coffee knowledge, customer service, and manufacturing. Alongside its retail locations at Open Works and Lexington Market, the roastery offers local Tuesday afternoon deliveries and direct to consumer subscriptions.
