This Ethiopia Koke is a single-origin coffee sourced from the Yirgacheffe district. Cultivated by smallholder farmers at elevations between 1,800 and 2,100 meters, this lot features heirloom varieties. The coffee undergoes a specialized carbonic maceration process, where cherries are fermented in nitrogen-flushed, temperature-controlled tanks to develop complex flavors. The resulting cup is vibrant and clean, offering distinct tasting notes of Dr. Pepper, pineapple, and grapes with a medium intensity.
Founded by wedding photographers Ivana and Marko, Kava Family began with a single derelict space on Hvar island transformed into cafe Kava 37 before expanding to Split's mainland market. Their team includes Q Grader and coffee buyer Tobias Berg, who sources directly from Latin American origins after extensive travel through producing regions. The brand's visual identity reflects Hvar's landscape—green for vegetation, yellow for Mediterranean houses, blue for the Adriatic—creating a distinctly Croatian coffee aesthetic focused on community building and quality sourcing.
