About This Coffee

This coffee is a microlot from the Uraga district in Ethiopia’s Guji region, grown by smallholder farmer Nigusse Nare at an altitude of 2,100 meters. Cultivated using organic practices under shade, this heirloom variety coffee is naturally processed and dried on raised beds. The cup offers a complex profile with notes of watermelon, honeydew, soursop, lychee, longan, apricot, mata kucing, kyoho grape, and guava cordial. It features a medium-high body and phosphoric acidity, resulting in a refined, sweet, and tropical finish.

Arkib Kopi was founded in 2018 by Helmi, a certified Q grader whose training in Japan shaped both his palate and his approach to presentation. The roastery operates from its "Ibu Sawat" (Mothership) facility in Kuala Lumpur, housing a custom 1kg machine alongside a 15kg Cogen roaster for production batches. Sourcing follows a dual model: direct trade with producers to secure top lots and a sustainable partnership with Falcon Coffee Trader that prioritizes social and environmental impact. The lineup is organized into three collections, FANSI for omni roast, RUTIN for filter, and MANIS for espresso, each highlighting seasonal origins from Rwanda, Panama, Indonesia, and Brazil. Arkib also runs weekend public cupping sessions at its flagship, reinforcing its role as a community hub for specialty coffee education in Malaysia.
