Yirgacheffe coffee from the Worka Sakaro washing station in the Gedeo Zone, southern Ethiopia. This heirloom cultivar lot was grown at 2,000–2,200 meters altitude by 400 smallholder farmers on steep mountainsides. Processed using Natural Anaerobic fermentation, where cherries fermented in oxygen-free bags for 3–7 days, then dried on raised beds for 18 days. Flavor notes include black cherry, mango, lemonade, pineapple, and peach.
Founded in 1986 by Oren Bloostein, Oren's Coffee pioneered specialty coffee in New York City as the original roaster championing direct sourcing and in store roasting before these practices became industry standards. The roasting facility in Jersey City operates with an ethos of uncompromising freshness through the Freshness 24 Guarantee, ensuring all beans are roasted within 24 hours before delivery. Oren's at Origin program emerged from a philosophy of traveling globally to purchase directly from farmers, building long term relationships rather than relying solely on brokers. This dedication to origin connection and craft earned Oren's the first ever Roaster's Choice Award from the Roaster's Guild of America.
