This coffee was processed at the Gitesi Washing Station in Rwanda's Western Province, owned and run by father and son Alexis and Aime Gahizi. Founded in 2005, Gitesi is one of the region's most respected washing stations, working with over 1800 smallholder farmers delivering cherries from the surrounding hills at 1750-1800 meters altitude. The natural process involves careful sorting of ripe cherries on delivery before slow drying on raised African beds for up to 15 days with ongoing hand-sorting throughout. The Red Bourbon variety from Karongi region offers a fruit-driven profile with raspberry, hibiscus, and mandarin flavor notes, featuring the structure and sweetness the region is known for.
Round Hill Roastery has been roasting in Radstock, a few miles south of Bath in Somerset, since 2012, when third wave specialty coffee was still in its early days in the UK. The focus from the start has been single farm and single estate coffees, sourcing the best seasonal harvests from independent growers and cooperatives and paying a premium for distinctive character. Roast profiles are designed to highlight the dynamic flavours naturally present in each coffee. Packaging is colour coded: blue bags for filter, pink for espresso. The roastery is open for tours where visitors can watch the roasting, taste the house blend, and learn about sourcing.
