This is a dark roast blend combining Colombia Lomo de Buey and Organic Timor FTO coffees. Both components are washed processed. The blend features a chocolatey profile with natural sweetness of chocolate and caramel with a hint of citrus for balance. It offers body and sweetness that works well for espresso or milk-based drinks. The coffee is sourced seasonally to ensure the freshest lots are available.
Black Acres was established in 2018 by Travis Bell in Baltimore's Station North district. The Black owned roastery specialises in single origin and blended coffees, roasting all beans in house in small batches and sourcing ethically from South America and Africa with an emphasis on supply chain transparency. The business is part of Ignite Capital's social entrepreneur network and provides training programmes for employees covering coffee knowledge, customer service, and manufacturing. Alongside its retail locations at Open Works and Lexington Market, the roastery offers local Tuesday afternoon deliveries and direct to consumer subscriptions.
