This washed coffee from Granja Paraíso 92's La Macarena farm in Cauca, Colombia is produced by Wilton Benitez and Oscar Riascos at 1900 meters elevation. The Wush Wush variety undergoes a traditional washed process with depulping, 36-hour open-air fermentation, and drying. The light roast displays botanical, tea-like characteristics with tasting notes of sugar pear, stonefruit, pomelo, and lemon verbena, balanced with clean sweetness.
Founded in 2020 at the onset of the COVID 19 pandemic, Moonwake Coffee Roasters emerged from the passion of two former tech engineers, Ming Wood from Tesla and Mabel Yeung from Meta. What began as Ming's personal coffee project within Tesla's internal coffee club evolved into a full roastery operation after both founders chose to leave their tech careers to pursue coffee full time between 2023 and 2024. Moonwake represents a growing movement of technologists who discovered that coffee roasting offers greater fulfillment than their previous careers, channeling engineering precision into specialty coffee.
