Neighbourhood Coffee Roasters

Brian founded Neighbourhood Coffee Roasters in early 2017 in the town of Carlow, Ireland, bringing inspiration from New Zealand's coffee culture back to a small Irish town and proving that serious specialty roasting does not require a capital city address. The roastery operates a made to order Giesen small batch roaster, developing a specific roast profile for each individual coffee through careful sample batch roasting, cupping, and tasting before any beans reach the bag. They source through importers who meet directly with coffee farmers and sample hundreds of seasonal coffees, selecting origins from Honduras, Costa Rica, El Salvador, and Brazil among others. The operation serves both a retail cafe on Barrack Street and an online shop, selling brewing equipment alongside their coffees to help customers get the most from each bag at home. Neighbourhood's name captures their philosophy: bringing world class specialty coffee into the fabric of a local community, roasted with the obsessive care of late night cupping sessions and constant experimentation.
