About This Coffee

A washed, patio-dried coffee from the El Progreso region of Sierra de las Minas, Guatemala, grown at 1800 masl. Produced by Josue Morales and the Los Volcanoes Coffee team in Antigua, with cherry sourced from multiple small estate holders. Varieties include Bourbon, Red Caturra, and Yellow Caturra. Light filter roast with flavor notes of pear, dried fruits, and red apple, featuring a crisp apple-like acidity, juicy pear character, and elegant dried-fruit sweetness.

Fjord Coffee

Kresten Thøgersen, Morgan Love, and James Maguire founded Fjord Coffee in 2016, born from a collaboration between the Father Carpenter and Silo cafe teams who pooled resources to build a shared roasting operation. The roastery is located in East Berlin, where the team works on a cast iron Probat roaster using a unique combination of conduction and convection methods. Their Nordic style roasting philosophy draws out naturally sweet and vibrant flavors while showcasing the diversity of regions and processing methods from origins including Brazil, El Salvador, Colombia, Kenya, Guatemala, and Ethiopia. Direct trade relationships with farmers go beyond simple sourcing, often extending to the creation of experimental lots developed in partnership. In 2023, Fjord and Father Carpenter formally separated, with each pursuing its own roasting identity while retaining the collaborative spirit that brought them together.
