Rose Coffee Roasters

About This Coffee

This Geisha coffee is from Hacienda La Esmeralda's Cañas Verdes farm, specifically the Reserva de Cabaña lot in Panama. Grown at 1700 meters on the southern slope of Volcan Baru, the coffee benefits from balanced rainfall and sun exposure. The lot is processed using a washed method with cold water fermentation (Frio) followed by controlled drying in a temperature and humidity controlled dark room. The flavor profile features floral notes of jasmine and orange blossom, high quality black tea characteristics, and sweet fruit notes of peach and lemonade. Clean and elegant with exceptional flavor development.

Rose Coffee Roasters

Rose Coffee Roasters was founded in 2022 in Zurich by Matt Winton, the 2021 World Brewers Cup Champion, together with Frederic Brunner. Matt's background spans aircraft engineering in Australia and years of competition at the highest level of specialty coffee. The team, which includes Sierra Yeo (2022 UK Brewers Cup Champion), roasts exclusively on Stronghold electric roasters powered by 100% renewable electricity. Every batch is roasted to order, with a deliberate focus on brightness, sweetness, and flavor. Rose sources top end specialty lots through direct relationships with farmers in Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Ethiopia, China, and Indonesia. The name represents a duality Matt finds in great coffee: something simple and familiar on the surface, yet layered and complex underneath. It is a small, independent roastery with no shortcuts and no cheap blends.
