A single origin decaf coffee from Brazil, processed using the sugarcane decaffeination method. Roasted for espresso, this coffee is described as sweet and smooth with caramel and chocolate notes. It performs well served both black and white. Roasted in Edinburgh by Machina Coffee.
Machina was established in Edinburgh in 2013 by Steve Glencross, who spent two decades in the music industry as a DJ and A&R executive before pivoting to coffee. He co founded the roastery with Michael, a long time coffee professional. They roast on a traditional Probat drum roaster at their facility in Peffermill, focusing on quality over volume. The café on Marchmont Road, opposite The Meadows, seats around 50 guests. Machina also offers a white label roasting service for hospitality businesses and runs a wholesale delivery and tub collection scheme to reduce single use packaging.
