Indonesia Sulawesi Taraja Sapan Minanga

Oren's Coffee

About This Coffee

Sapan Minanga is a sub-region of Tana Toraja on Indonesia's Sulawesi Island, where coffee has been grown since the 1850s by smallholder farmers. The Catimor varietal is cultivated at 1,300 meters altitude and processed using the wet hulled (giling basah) method, producing an exceptionally full-bodied coffee. The cup profile features herbal notes with bright, citric acidity and chocolate undertones, offering more complexity than typical Sumatran coffees.

Oren's Coffee

Founded in 1986 by Oren Bloostein, Oren's Coffee pioneered specialty coffee in New York City as the original roaster championing direct sourcing and in store roasting before these practices became industry standards. The roasting facility in Jersey City operates with an ethos of uncompromising freshness through the Freshness 24 Guarantee, ensuring all beans are roasted within 24 hours before delivery. Oren's at Origin program emerged from a philosophy of traveling globally to purchase directly from farmers, building long term relationships rather than relying solely on brokers. This dedication to origin connection and craft earned Oren's the first ever Roaster's Choice Award from the Roaster's Guild of America.
