Alt Wien Kaffee

About This Coffee

This coffee is a 100% Arabica from the northern region of Sumatra, Indonesia, specifically from the Gayo highland region in Aceh province. Grown by smallholder farmers at altitudes up to 1,800 meters on fertile volcanic soils, it is cultivated by several cooperatives including PT. Sumatera Jaya Kopi, KOKOWAGAYO, and Kopi Wanita. The coffee is processed using the Giling Basah wet-hulling method, a unique Indonesian technique where beans are hulled while still moist and then dried on patios for three days. This processing gives the coffee its characteristic blue-green color and intense flavor characteristics. The varieties are Catimor and Typica. The coffee features dense, sweet chocolate notes with a distinctive aroma, making it suitable for espresso, French Press, and Cold Brew preparations.
