This single-origin coffee from Ethiopia's Sidamo Province is produced by Welichu Wachu Industry PLC at altitudes between 2210-2310 meters. The coffee is grown by smallholder farmers working with the company in the Oromia region. It features Bourbon and Typica varieties, processed using the washed method where 95% of the harvest is fully washed and sun-dried on raised beds. The coffee is light roasted and delivers a velvety smooth profile with pronounced berry and tea-like notes, including dark berry, lime, and black tea flavors with a juicy sweetness.
Maximilian Kranz and Dominik Münstermann founded Bohnenkartell in Essen, building a cafe and roastery whose playful name, meaning "Bean Cartel," belies a serious commitment to specialty coffee. All green coffees meet the SCA Specialty Coffee standard of 80 points or above, and each batch is individually roasted on a drum roaster to preserve the unique aromas and characteristics of its origin. Bohnenkartell also offers SCA certified barista courses, cementing their role as both a quality focused roastery and an educational resource in the Ruhr Valley's specialty coffee scene.
