Kenya Gikirima - Espresso
Franz Morish KaffeeröstereiAbout This Coffee
This coffee originates from the highlands of Nyeri and Kirinyaga Counties in Kenya, grown at altitudes of 1,800–1,900 meters above sea level on nutrient-rich volcanic soils. Produced as a community lot by numerous smallholder farmers, cherries are collected and processed at the Gikirima Washing Station using a fully washed method. The farmers cultivate the traditional Kenyan varieties SL-28 and SL-34. Flavor notes include red currant, rosehip, and black tea, with a lively juicy acidity, delicate sweetness, and a clean, lingering finish.

Franz Morish Kaffeerösterei
Franz Morish Kaffeerösterei opened in 2015 in Leipzig, near the Grassi Museum, establishing itself as one of the city's few roasters with a fully visible in house roasting operation. Their approach to espresso involves slightly higher final temperatures and longer roast times to reduce acidity and build body, while filter coffees are roasted faster to preserve bright, fruity flavors. This dual methodology reflects a thoughtful understanding of how different brewing methods demand different things from the bean. They source specialty grade green coffee from origins including Colombia's Huila region, Brazil, India, and Congo, offering both single origins and omni roasts.
