Lost Coffee

About This Coffee

This single-origin coffee is sourced from the Kuta Farmer Group in the Nebilyer Valley, located in Papua New Guinea's Upper Waghi Valley at 1,600 meters altitude. The coffee is a blend of classic varieties including Bourbon, Typica, Caturra, Catimor, and Arushia. The beans are grown under shade within designated conservation areas and processed using a washed method with a meticulous three-stage washing process at the Kuta Wet Mill. After sun-drying and conditioning, the coffee undergoes rigorous density, size, and color sorting, followed by hand selection. The flavor profile features Earl Grey, dark chocolate, and orange peel notes, resulting in a vibrant, clean, and expressive cup.

Lost Coffee

Lost Coffee was founded in 2010 by Scott Gaerte as a food truck in Castle Rock, Colorado, expanding into a permanent location within the first year. The company now operates five retail locations across Castle Rock, Aurora, Littleton, and Highlands Ranch, with a dedicated roasting facility in Littleton housing a Diedrich IR 12 visible to customers. Lead roaster Fergus Walker applies principles from chemistry and thermodynamics to each batch, continuously evaluating and refining roast profiles to meet specialty grade standards. Lost Coffee partners with Colorado nonprofits focused on outdoor and nature experiences, extending its community roots beyond the café. The company has also moved into grocery distribution through Whole Foods and local retailers.
