This coffee is produced by Lino Menor and his family at Finca La Babilla, a 2-hectare farm located in the San Francisco de Asís hamlet, Huabal district, Jaén province, in the Cajamarca region of northern Peru. The coffee is washed processed and made from the Gesha variety, grown at altitudes between 1700-1900 meters. The farm also has some Caturra planted. Lino has been experimenting with fermentation processes to improve quality. Tasting notes include lemongrass florals, juicy nectarine, demerara sugar, and black tea with a long lasting finish.
Pharmacie Coffee Roasters was founded by Rick Curtis, who spent over five years running specialty coffee shops in Brighton and Hove before opening the roastery in Lewes, East Sussex, in 2021. The name was inspired by a 1970s French pharmacie sign Rick kept behind his couch and the "drugs" signage at Stumptown in Portland, which had shaped his coffee thinking. The move to Lewes came at the suggestion of Danny Tapper from Beak Brewery, who pointed Rick to an old warehouse at the Cliffe Industrial Estate. Rick roasts on a Giesen W15 and also offers a co roasting service, hiring out the equipment to other coffee professionals. The space hosts a seven day brew bar, social bike rides, live music, art exhibitions, and training sessions.
