About This Coffee

Malacara B Farm is a single-origin coffee from Santa Ana region at 1500-1600 meters altitude. This washed coffee, dried on raised beds, is planted with Bourbon, Typica, Pacas, and Pacamara varieties, with this lot consisting of Bourbon from a single harvest day. The coffee exhibits semisweet chocolate, spices, citric and malic acidity reminiscent of Gala apple with hints of orange, finishing with almond and chocolate notes. Light-bodied with a clean, easy-drinking character.

Penstock Coffee Roasters was originally founded in 2009 as OQ Coffee by Ben and Jessica Schellack before rebranding to Penstock in December 2018. Based in Highland Park, New Jersey, the roastery holds CCOF certified organic status and sources 85% of its coffee directly from farms in Central and South America, building relationships rooted in transparency and shared values. The remaining 15% comes from coffees bearing certified organic, Fair Trade, Bird Friendly, or Rainforest Alliance designations, ensuring all selections meet rigorous standards. Two time Good Food Awards finalist status in 2017 and 2018, alongside a Community Dividends Grants program supporting social justice projects, reflects commitment extending beyond coffee into systemic change.
