Cast Iron Coffee Roasters

About This Coffee

This is a washed coffee from producer Marcelo Pérez Pablo, a member of the ASDEFLOR Association in Guatemala's Huehuetenango region. Grown at 1700 meters altitude, the coffee features Bourbon, Catuai, Pache, and Typica varietals. The beans are fermented in open ceramic tanks for two to three days before partial drying on raised beds and patios. In the cup, it offers stone-fruit flavors of nectarine and plum, balanced with milk chocolate and hazelnut notes. The roast level is light-medium, making it suitable for both espresso and filter brewing methods.

Cast Iron Coffee Roasters

Tilly and Guy Spurr, a husband and wife team, founded Cast Iron Coffee Roasters in 2014 in West Sussex. Guy, who holds a degree in computer science and economics, handles the roasting on twin 15kg Toper drum roasters from their workshop near Chichester. Green beans come through direct trade specialists DR Wakefield, Interamerican Coffees, and Falcon Specialty. The roasting philosophy is straightforward: showcase each bean as faithfully as possible to its origin. All coffee is hand roasted to order with the roast date stamped on the pack, typically reaching customers within three working days. Cast Iron also supplies La Marzocco, Elektra, and Britesso equipment and offers barista training alongside wholesale coffee to independent shops, restaurants, and other venues across the UK.
