Mexico Altura

About This Coffee

Mexico Altura comes from the southern states of Chiapas and Oaxaca, where mountain ranges provide high altitudes and ideal climates for cultivating coffee. The coffee is grown on small farms averaging just a few acres in size, allowing careful management of picking and sorting to remove damaged and under-ripe cherries. Each producer processes coffee with their own micro-mill where the coffee is depulped and fermented for 24 hours, then washed. The washed coffee in parchment is dried in the sun on patios before being transported to a centrally located dry-mill facility where it is hulled and sorted by density and color. Roasted to a medium roast, this coffee features soft notes of juicy nectarine followed by a rich chocolate body and a refreshing yet subtle Rainier cherry finish.
