This coffee is from the Nayarit region of Mexico, grown at 800 meters above sea level in the highlands of Tepic, specifically in Cofradía de Chocolón. The varieties are Bourbon, Caturra, and Catuai, processed using anaerobic natural methods. The coffee comes from old plantations in an area with spectacular ocean and forest views, experiencing a humid subtropical climate. This coffee scored 87.5 on cupping and features exotic tropical and fruit flavors with notes of plum, raspberry, and honey. Sourced through Genuine Origin since 2017.
Elevator Coffee was founded in 2016 by Jay Sycip and Andrew Coe in Portland, Oregon. Coe, the head roaster and coffee buyer, won the 2023 U.S. Coffee Roasting Championship and placed third at the World Coffee Roasting Championships in Taipei the same year. The roastery previously operated a cafe in SE Portland until Fall 2020, then pivoted to a wholesale and online model, roasting to order and shipping weekly.
