This coffee is sourced from Kalisimbi Kiwieds Coffee (KKC) in Rwanda. KKC operates two main farms: Gicumbi in the northern province and Gatsibo in the eastern province. The main harvest runs from March through June where coffee cherries are hand picked and processed before being sent to the dry mill in Kigali. The coffee is roasted slowly to bring out sweetness without excessive roastiness, creating a lighter espresso roast with great body and complex sweetness. It features milk chocolate and stone fruit flavor notes.
Lineage Coffee Roasting was founded in January 2012 by Jarrett and Justine Johnson in Orlando, Florida. The couple started with a retrofitted grill and an ice cream motor powering a 3 kilogram roaster, and within months had upgraded and begun building a reputation for meticulous small lot roasting. By 2015 they were traveling to Guatemala and Colombia to establish direct trade relationships, later expanding those connections into Kenya and Ethiopia. Today Lineage operates three café locations across Orlando, cups and dials in every coffee served, and runs a wholesale program alongside a roasting academy. The hands on approach that began with a homemade setup continues to define the company's identity more than a decade later.
