This single origin espresso originates from the slopes of Mount Meru in Tanzania. Grown by smallholder farmers of the Nombeko Cooperative in the Leguruki region at 1400-1500 meters altitude on fertile volcanic soil. The coffee is Bourbon variety Arabica, processed using the washed method. It features a strong, intense body with flavor notes of dark chocolate, almond, and orange, with subtle sweet fruit notes reminiscent of orange or grapefruit. Roasted to a dark roast level.
Maximilian Kranz and Dominik Münstermann founded Bohnenkartell in Essen, building a cafe and roastery whose playful name, meaning "Bean Cartel," belies a serious commitment to specialty coffee. All green coffees meet the SCA Specialty Coffee standard of 80 points or above, and each batch is individually roasted on a drum roaster to preserve the unique aromas and characteristics of its origin. Bohnenkartell also offers SCA certified barista courses, cementing their role as both a quality focused roastery and an educational resource in the Ruhr Valley's specialty coffee scene.
