Blank Roast

About This Coffee

A blend of Arabica and fine Robusta, with beans sourced from Peru and India. The Peruvian beans are grown sustainably and organically by the Yanesha, an indigenous people, using shade cultivation that promotes biodiversity and soil protection. Certified organic, fair, and socially traded. Roasted using a traditional long-duration drum roasting process. The espresso offers strong notes of dark chocolate, vanilla, brown sugar, and a hint of caramel, with a pleasant, full-bodied finish.

Blank Roast

Blank Roast is a coffee manufactory nestled in Neustadt an der Weinstraße, right on Germany's famous Wine Route — an unusual but fitting location for a roaster that draws on terroir-thinking. Master roaster Holger K. Blank has been at the helm since 2007, using a beautifully restored 1930s roasting machine fitted with modern controls. His unique approach includes adding organic grapevines from the surrounding region during the roasting process, which adds moisture and coaxes out extra aroma from the beans. The result is a distinctly smooth, aromatic cup with notes of vanilla, almond, and cinnamon developed during the 15-to-20-minute slow roast. Customers can watch the entire roasting process from their café seats while enjoying breakfast and freshly brewed coffee — a true sensory experience.
