Ape Coffee
Ape Coffee was founded in 2015 on the streets of Braga's historic city center with a customized Piaggio APE van designed to serve high quality espresso, a mobile beginning from which the brand took both its name and its identity as a company that brings specialty coffee to people wherever they are rather than waiting for them to walk through a door. A brick and mortar coffee shop in the heart of Braga followed in 2017, and the team began roasting its own specialty coffee weekly in 2019, completing a three stage evolution from mobile vendor to cafe to roastery that few Portuguese coffee brands have replicated. In 2023 Ape Coffee moved into the Setra building near Braga's Se Cathedral, a shared creative space that houses an art gallery, hair salon, and bar alongside the roastery and cafe, and in 2025 the brand launched APE Coffee Corner, a grab and go concept that seals coffee in cans on the spot for customers who want specialty quality without the sit down experience. The roastery offers twelve varieties sourced from Ethiopia, Honduras, Nicaragua, Kenya, and other origins, all carefully selected and profiled with a mission to introduce specialty coffee to the masses at sustainable prices rather than positioning it as a luxury product. Ape Coffee continues to operate two fully equipped Piaggio Ape vans for mobile espresso service at weddings, christenings, corporate events, and social gatherings, keeping the street level origins of the brand alive even as the roasting operation grows.
