Rwanda Gitega Lot #48

Rwanda Gitega Lot #48

Arkib Kopi

About This Coffee

This coffee is a natural process lot from the Gitega washing station in the Nyamasheke District of Western Rwanda. Grown by smallholder farmers in the western highlands, the coffee benefits from a microclimate influenced by Lake Kivu. The flavor profile features notes of dark chocolate, English breakfast tea, dark cherry, rhubarb, and lemon, with a medium body and bright citrus acidity. When prepared as espresso, it develops notes of cola and molasses, while milk-based preparations highlight flavors of kouign-amann, custard, and milk chocolate.

Arkib Kopi

Arkib Kopi was founded in 2018 by Helmi, a certified Q grader whose training in Japan shaped both his palate and his approach to presentation. The roastery operates from its "Ibu Sawat" (Mothership) facility in Kuala Lumpur, housing a custom 1kg machine alongside a 15kg Cogen roaster for production batches. Sourcing follows a dual model: direct trade with producers to secure top lots and a sustainable partnership with Falcon Coffee Trader that prioritizes social and environmental impact. The lineup is organized into three collections, FANSI for omni roast, RUTIN for filter, and MANIS for espresso, each highlighting seasonal origins from Rwanda, Panama, Indonesia, and Brazil. Arkib also runs weekend public cupping sessions at its flagship, reinforcing its role as a community hub for specialty coffee education in Malaysia.
