This Rwandan coffee comes from the Shyira Washing Station in the Nyabihu district of Rwanda's Northern Province. At 1,850–2,300 meters above sea level, Shyira is the highest-altitude washing station in Rwanda, where cool temperatures and volcanic soils create an ideal microclimate for slow cherry maturation. The coffee is fully washed and processed from Red Bourbon varietal. The cup features delicate white peach with soft floral sweetness, structured black tea elegance, and a marzipan sweetness on the finish.
Established in 2013 through the merger of three independent coffee companies united by shared values of equality, quality, and fairness throughout the supply chain, Messenger Coffee Company operates from a historic 1919 Kansas City building. The company's flagship four story facility at Grand Boulevard houses a full scale roasting operation, cupping lab, café, and grain mill, creating a complete ecosystem for specialty coffee. Messenger demonstrates that successful coffee roasting emerges from values driven collaboration, combining rigorous sourcing practices with a commitment to serving the entire supply chain equitably.
